Moda Block Heads 4: Block 4

Welcome back Block Heads, we've made it to week 4! This weeks block, Spinner, is designed by Anne Sutton of Bunny Hill Designs and you can find the instructions on her blog.

I had a lot of fun playing around with the fabric placement of this block. I auditioned several different prints before I landed on a combination I was pleased with.

I'm sure you've heard before, color gets all the credit but value does the work. It is so true. A couple little tricks I do to see value correctly is to take a picture of my fabric selection and change the photo to black and white with the editing tools on my phone. This takes away the color so you are able to check your values easier.

Another trick is to squint your eyes. All the lighter values will recede to the background and the darker values will come forward. If you ever get stuck making decisions, give it a try. Shifting your values may be the answer.
