Moda Block Heads 4: Block 14
appliqué. This cute "Bird on a Branch" is so much fun thanks to the talented Jan Patek.
You can find the instructions to this block on Jan's blog.

I don't have a lot of experience in appliqué but this is definitely a sewing skill you want to have in your repertoire because it opens a new horizon of projects. I opted for the fusible method and then a simple edge stitch to secure the pieces to the block.
Once I placed my block on the design board, this little birdie attracted the most attention so I cut out some squares to apply to the corners using the stitch and flip method. Adding some color to the corners helped blend this block with my overall quilt design. I used prints from the Paisley Rose collection and thought a little paisley would make the perfect wing.
If you haven't done this before I hope you enjoy learning a new skill! Stay cool and happy sewing.
