Metro Rings Table Runner

The Julia collection is perfect for creating a cheerful atmosphere in your kitchen and dining area. I’ve always loved vibrant colors and decorations in my home and making table runners and placemats is one way I can bring out my personal style.

I made this table runner by making one row of the Metro Rings quilt pattern by Sew Kind of Wonderful, which measures (19.5” x 57”). This pattern is Jelly Roll friendly which saves time on fabric cutting. You can make more than one table runner or use the leftover strips for placemats which I will share in the next post.

The Metro Rings pattern is one that I have had for a while and thought this would be a great opportunity to try it out, without making the entire quilt. You may already have a favorite quilt pattern that a single row would also work for a runner.

I decided this was a great opportunity to try hand quilting as well! I purchased some Pearl Cotton No. 8 thread in a variety of colors. With the recipe print as my background, I thought red would be a nice pop of color but I also contemplated black. It really comes down to personal preference, both colors would have looked nice. My stitches aren’t perfect but they improved over time. I love the added texture and design that they provide.

I hope you have been inspired to add some positive energy to your home with new handmade table decor!
