Jane Quilt
Martha Jane Cannary, better known as Calamity Jane was born May 1, 1852 in my home town of Princeton, Missouri. This classic Churn Dash Block also originated during that time period and has gone by several different names through the years. This was a fun way to pay a little homage to where I came from.
I liked the idea of using the red and blues from the Cadence collection in this quilt so the design was bold and cohesive. The contrast between these two primary colors creates a striking visual effect and makes a timeless statement as American as apple pie. I'm sure Miss Jane would approve. I'm wondering if modern day Beth Dutton would cozy up with this on her porch?
Have fun making these big and bold classic blocks made of Half Square Triangles. This is also is a fun design for you to experiment with color as well!
Tia Curtis quilted this with the E2E design, Abundant Feathers which is one of my favorites. The backing includes the patchwork print in blue. (11919-12)
Jane is available in my shop now!
