Cup of Love Quilt - Bonus Block
It's officially Pumpkin Spice season and decorating for the fall is an absolute delight! As the leaves outside begin to change into a mesmerizing tapestry of warm hues, bringing that same cozy, autumnal charm indoors is both comforting and invigorating. There's something magical about adorning your home with rustic pumpkins, golden-hued leaves, and the warm glow of candles that instantly sets the mood for this wonderful time of year. I had the idea to update my Cup of Love quilt with maple leaves because it's so charming to hang in my kitchen. However, as I was sewing the binding on by hand I realized it makes a nice lap quilt as well.
Download the Maple Leaf Block here.
This Maple Leaf block is designed to replace the Flower Block in the original Cup of Love Quilt and includes updated cutting instructions since you won't be cutting for the flowers. The PDF quilt pattern is available here and quilt shops can get printed copies through Moda! It is Layer Cake friendly however I enjoyed making this version scrappy!
A Patchwork of Love and Stitched Memories
This quilt now has a special meaning to me and will always warm my heart. We had to say goodbye to our dear Piper this week who has been my assistant for over 16 years. We enjoyed many cups of coffee together! She also had her paws on every sewing project I worked on and just loved to inspect a new quilt. We knew her time was near and as I was petting and comforting her I asked, "Who's going to lay on all my quilts?" As if she knew what I was talking about, she got up and slowly walked over to this quilt I had on the floor ready to trim. She was still up to her ornery ways. We spent our last evening together sitting on this quilt and I'll always cherish that memory. The joy she brought to our lives was immeasurable and I'm so grateful for our time together.
