Cadence Stars - Free Pattern
Today I'm sharing the Cadence Stars quilt pattern! It's simple, fun, classic and FREE! You can easily create a patriotic themed quilt with the Cadence collection by pulling out the red and blue colorways. I wanted to design a pattern that incorporated the red and blue patchwork prints which saves time on piecing but still provides an eye-catching design.

Block of the Month
The Cadence quilt is 62" x 62" with 10" finished blocks. It can easily be used as a Block of the Month quilt by substituting the 12 Star Blocks and creating your own.
Backing & Quilting
For the backing I used a bandana print that is an arrangement of paisleys and a variety of motifs found on bandanas. (11914-20) It makes a wonderful blender but I love it for the backing too!
I had my friend Tia Curtis quilt this for me with an Edge to Edge design but it would also make a great hand quilting project. Since this is a throw size quilt, it's also manageable to quilt at home with some simple lines or the wave stitch.
Garden Society Mockup
I thought I would share a couple mockup and ideas on how this pattern can be used with some of my collections that are currently available. This is an ideal quilt for large scale prints if you have any saved in your stash at home. In this Garden Society sample I used the diamond patchwork print for the 10" squares. (1189813)
Sundance Mockup
A quilt for Vincent van Gogh! In this sample I've used the large scale sunflowers in the 10" squares and the border. Some other modifications would be to make four-patch blocks by sewing (4) 5.5" squares together, or you could sew (5) 2.5" strips together. There are several ways you could change this pattern up and make it your own. I hope this has sparked some creative ideas for you! Be sure to use #CadenceStarsQuilt when you share on social media.
